Payments Experts (Banking Sector – Dubai)

We are looking for 2 freelance experts specializing in payments to accompany a major bank in Dubai, in strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing and modernizing their payment systems and operations.
The roles require in-depth expertise across different payment types (SWIFT, SEPA, Instant Payments, Cards, Corporate Payments) as well as an ability to drive process improvement, regulatory compliance and innovation of payment products and services.

Description of the Mission
Our client, a major regional bank committed to digital innovation and operational excellence, is undertaking a major modernization of its payment platforms.
Experts will provide strategic know-how to optimize payment product offerings, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve operational efficiency.

• Strengthen expertise on different types of payments

• Ensure regulatory compliance (CBUAE, FATF standards, etc.)

• Supporting digital innovation in payments

Responsibilities

Payments & Consulting Expertise

• Provide expertise on end-to-end processes regarding SWIFT, SEPA, Instant Payments, Card Payments (Visa/Mastercard) and Corporate Cash Management solutions.

• Advise on optimization strategies for Retail and Corporate payments.

• Contribute to the definition of roadmaps for the modernization of payments.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with local regulations (Central Bank of the UAE – CBUAE), ISO 20022, PSD2, AML, and sanctions requirements.

• Identify gaps and propose corrective action plans.

Process Improvement & Innovation

• Analyze existing payment processes and recommend improvements.

• Participate in the design of digital and real-time payment products.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Engagement

• Work closely with business management, product managers, IT teams and regulatory teams.

• Lead strategic workshops and sessions, and formalize associated deliverables.

Deliverables

• Payments Modernization Strategy

• Gap analysis reports and action plans

• Regulatory Compliance Assessments

• Recommendations for operational and digital improvement

• Support during testing and production phases

Required Skills

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the field of banking payments or financial services

• Excellent command of the following systems and processes:

  • SWIFT Payments

  • SEPA and cross-border payments

  • Instant payments and domestic RTGS

  • Card payments (issuing and acquiring)

  • Cash Management Solutions for Businesses

• Good knowledge of the regulatory context in the Emirates (CBUAE, FATF, PSD2, ISO 20022)

• Excellent consulting, stakeholder management and communication skills

• Ability to work independently while aligning with strategic objectives

• Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus
